The DPTH-5 head is a 5-DOF system designed for interaction.

Each eye is a pan-tilt unit, which can be separately controlled. The 5th degree of freedom is used for the eyebrows. Furthermore, the head has a FireWire CCD color camera and a fully controllable 69 LEDs matrix.

This incredible man-machine interface can provide expressions in different ways:

• Human like, with the eyes and eyebrows and
• More technically by the mean of the LED matrix displaying icons or text

This permits an optimal communication between the machine and the users/interlocutors.
